PauseWave: Immersive and Natural Audiovisual Experiences

For my final capstone project in university for the Bandier Program, I created a series of live acoustic recordings embellished by natural sounds. the purpose of this project was to provide content to people who may feel isolated and disconnected from nature during worldwide lockdowns while also highlighting local natural locations within Syracuse NY.

I first crafted a small team and collected portable audio and video equipment that would allow for recording in any location. Then, I invited artists to perform and used highly sensitive microphones (AKG 451's and AKG C214's) to capture not only the musician's performance but also the natural sounds found around them in the location we chose. the series features artists playing with trees, wind, wildlife, rain, and campfires visible and audible in their backgrounds.
